Most patients are unaware of clinical trials or unsure whether participation is an option.
Yet enrolling in a clinical trial can help patients by motivating them to play an active role in their health care and learn more about treatment and management of their condition. It can also provide an opportunity to access new treatments that may not be accessible outside of a clinical trial.
Being in a clinical trial will bring your patient in contact with specialists and researchers who are experts in their condition.
There is evidence that clinical trial participation leads to superior outcomes compared with other patients with the same disease or condition regardless of whether a patient receives a new treatment or current standard of care.
