Courtney’s Amazing Run For Brian

On 2 October, Courtney ran a half marathon in the Melbourne Marathon Festival in honour of her step-dad, and raised $2,030 for the Liver Foundation.

On the 14 October 2020, Courtney Pyers’ world became a different place when she lost a shining light of her life, her amazing stepfather.

Brian was selfless, caring and would do anything for anyone. Unfortunately, he was dealt with some bad luck when he was diagnosed with Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD), which progressed to liver cancer.

Due to COVID and other circumstances delaying treatments, Brian ran out of time and passed away. He left behind a loving wife and four children.

It was an extremely hard time for Courtney, as she was overseas and could not travel due to the pandemic. She could not say goodbye or go to Brian’s funeral.

To get through her grief, she started going on little runs to clear her head. She had never been a runner, but gradually she was able to run further and further.

On 2 October, Courtney ran a half marathon in the Melbourne Marathon Festival in honour of her step-dad, and to raise money for the Liver Foundation.

So far, she has raised $2,030 – an amazing achievement that will go a long way to helping us fight liver disease.
