Nurse-Led Support Line
Our FREE nurse-led support line is available from 10:00am – 7:00pm (AEDT).
Call 1800 841 118 to speak to a friendly, expert liver nurse for advice and support. This line is free to call. Our friendly nurses are experts in liver disease and liver cancer. Our service is entirely free from judgement and open to absolutely everyone. You are welcome to call us, email us at support@liver.org.au or fill in the form below and ask for us to call you back. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Please note this is not a medical service. If you have a health emergency, please call Triple Zero (000) or go to the Emergency Department.
Support during holidays and weekends
Our liver nurses are here every day, except on weekends and public holidays. If you need support during those times, you can call one of these helplines:
- For 24/7 medical advice, including a symptom checker, call Health Direct on 1800 022 222 or visit https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/
- For 24/7 crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14
- 13YARN is a free service run by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, available 24/7, call 13 92 76
Who is the support line for?
We provide support for:
- People diagnosed with liver disease or liver cancer
- Family, friends and carers of people diagnosed with liver disease or liver cancer
- Anyone who is supporting someone with liver disease including friends, family, multicultural support workers, GPs, Aboriginal health workers
- Anyone with general concerns about liver disease, liver cancer symptoms or testing
How can we help?
Our support line nurses can:
- Talk about the general signs and symptoms of liver disease and liver cancer
- Suggest questions to ask your doctor or specialist hospital nurse
- Provide general information and education on the treatments you may have for liver disease or liver cancer
- Provide general information and education on your liver cancer diagnosis (such as imaging that may be used, treatments, side effects)
However, please note that we cannot:
- Provide personal clinical advice
- Give a liver disease diagnosis or suggest a specific treatment plan
- Provide medical referrals or favour one doctor over another
- Endorse products or services that require payment or membership, like alternative therapies
- Provide direct financial assistance
