Rebecca’s journey for liver awareness
Rebecca raised $1,691 for Liver Foundation during Liver Awareness Month in October 2024 by walking an impressive 300km to honour her late father, who passed away from liver cancer in 2017. Liver disease has had a significant impact on Rebecca’s family, with her cousin undergoing a liver transplant due to Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC, an autoimmune disease of the liver), the loss of her aunt to liver failure last year, and the sudden loss of her uncle, this year, to liver cancer. Rebecca was also recently diagnosed with PSC, further motivating her to raise awareness about liver health.
Rebecca plans to make this fundraiser an annual event, with hopes to raise more funds and awareness each year. “I’m raising awareness and fundraising in hope that one day there will be a cure,” she said. “This is going to be my annual fundraiser hopefully bigger every year!”
