Mechanic Crew Shares Their Favourite Liver-Friendly Lunch

By midday, the sound of drills and hammers at the Choice Automotive workshop in Southern Sydney gives way to something else entirely: the aroma of garlic, lemon, and herbs drifting from the lunchroom. Instead of takeaway or fast food, the team here has made cooking and sharing meals part of their daily rhythm.

This month, as part of Tradie Health Awareness Month, the workshop crew is not just talking about looking after their livers, they’re showing how. Each day, they cook up hearty, Mediterranean-inspired meals that are quick, affordable, and packed with the kind of nutrients that support long-term liver health.

The team has noticed a difference since swapping out heavy lunches for lighter, nourishing ones. As one of them puts it: “It gives you energy without that 3pm slump. We’ve learned you don’t have to sacrifice flavour to eat well.”

They’re sharing one of their go-to dishes — a Tuna and Black Eyed Peas Salad — that’s loaded with fibre and full of fresh herbs and healthy fats. It’s a simple meal that ticks all the boxes for a liver-friendly diet. You can get the recipe here.
